DRN Engineering Ltd
About us
DRN Engineering specialises in the manufacturing of CNC precision turned components from 3mm diameter up to 65mm diameter on our bar fed machines and from 65mm diameter up to 178mm diameter on our CNC chuck machine.
Most of our available capacity is on our CNC turning machines with multi-axis capability which allows us to turn , mill , drill & tap all in one operation enabling us to offer more competitive prices to our customers.
We are most suited to producing quantities from 50 off to 5,000 off but can also easily handle large production quantities utilizing our magazine bar loading capability which allows us to run the CNC machines 24/7.
The materials that we are most proficient in machining are Stainless Steel, Aluminium Alloy , Ferrous Steel , Brass , Plastic and a few aerospace materials including S80 & S154 and we tend to stick to the materials that we know.
Don Newport registered the company in October 1982 and Gary came on board from day one as Works Manager , Don & Gary worked very closely together for 38 years and built the company up to what it is today.
Don's son Paul Newport joined DRN in 1985 and was tasked with building up our customer base through annual exhibitions including the Subcon Exhibition in the 1990's and then more recently we participated in the Southern Manufacturing Exhibition for many years. Overall this has been a successful policy for us ensuring that we are not reliant on any one customer.
Although DRN mostly specialises in turned parts there are many components which require hexagons to be machined , or even slots or flats , we try to do as much of this type of work while the job is on the turn / mill machines but sometimes it is more cost effective to second op the milling on our vertical machining centres. Mostly we use the available capacity on the VMC's on our turned parts but we do mill a few simple milling job as well.
