Yelo Test Fixtures and Jigs
What is a test fixture? A test fixture or test jig is the component containing the bed of nails used for testing the PCB or assembled product. It is powered and controlled by the Yelo Testpoint system which has test cards capable of providing multiple test conditions. This system also controls the probes used in the bed of nails, and relays test information back to the Testpoint system to be analysed. Yelo test fixtures can be used for edge connector functional testing. In this case, the link between the unit under test (UUT) and the edge connectors is made via a set of cables. This provides an alternative method of testing compared to horizontal bed of nails testing, or vertical bed of nails where the probes are linked via channels to relay test cards. These fixtures can either be mechanically or pneumatically operated. Mechanical Mechanical test fixtures have a limit to the number of probes that can be used in testing. As the number of probes increases, the force required to push down onto the PCB also increases, causing difficulties for the user. Therefore there is a limit of around 100 probes in this style of mechanical test fixture. Mechanical Cam There is a new lever action, mechanical cam test fixture which allows for an increase in the number of probes that can be used. This maintains the advantage of lower costs while improving the number of probes that can be used for a more flexible test. Pneumatic The pneumatic test fixture uses an air compression system to hold the PCB onto the probes for testing. These can be pushed either up onto the PCB or down onto it depending on pin orientation. This means the limit to how many probes that can be used is controlled by how many available channels there are.

Yelo PXI Test Instrumentation
General Purpose Functional Tester The Yelo Pixi general-purpose tester is a PXI based functional test system with in-circuit and continuity capability. Built into a free-standing 19” rack is a PXI chassis, mass interconnect fixture interface, PC, flat screen, and space for additional user-selectable instrumentation. Software Features The Yelo Test Executive software provides a standard user interface and test sequencer and includes a wide range of reporting options. The high-level functional test program imports user parameters to allow tests to be developed without the need to write any software code. Also included are standard continuity and in-circuit test programs which are able to read in net lists and component lists from files and test directly against these. The standard test functions or VI’s that automatically resolve the switching routes from the instruments to specific pins on the fixture interface. These VI’s will allow the user to specify pin numbers on the fixture as part of a DMM or other instrument measurement call. This includes VI’s to provide continuity and in-circuit measurements. Hardware Features * The system is housed in a 37U 19” rack with a fixture interface mounted at desk height complete with shelf for supporting the fixture Rackmount PC with MXI interface. * The system uses a PXI chassis and a number of high-density matrix cards combined with an LCR card to create an analogue in-circuit capability. A guarding card is also fitted to provide guard capability. * Functional test uses PXI instruments and multiplexes these through the relay matrix used for the in-circuit capability. Power supplies are rack-mounted and hard-wired to their own connector on the fixture interface. * 9U of uncommitted space for user-selected instruments. * LCD & keyboard mounted on side arm for operator ergonomics. Mains distribution unit (MDU) and emergency stop button provide built-in safety features.

Testpoint
Functional testing of printed circuit boards, sub-assemblies, and finished products Yelo Testpoint is an extremely modular and flexible system, allowing you to scale to any size operation, and to add almost any new test requirements. Ideally suited to cellular manufacturing, the system can be used to complement an existing ATE, as a functional test add-on, or as a diagnostic workstation. Its compact, space-saving construction has multiple interface positions to accommodate both horizontal and vertical connections. The Yelo Testpoint System combines traditional Bed of Nails In-Circuit Testing (ICT) with functional testing on a single bench-top station. Highly versatile and cost-effective, it is used for a wide range of testing on boards, sib assemblies and final products. Yelo provides a full range of test cards as well as extensive software tools, simplifying ease of operation. Yelo software supports many standard telecom applications including acoustic, telephone, and modem testing. System Range Yelo 50 This system has been designed for applications that require minimal testing such as fire alarms and carbon monoxide monitors. Yelo 125 Ideal for performing functional and in-circuit testing on applications such as defibrillators with low node counts. Yelo 7130 The workhorse of the Yelo system range. It provides the resources needed for testing PCB assemblies.
