Yamazaki Mazak: Machinery Magazine speaks to Lawrence McCann about 2026

Mazak's European Group Engineering Director Lawrence McCann shares the company's latest technology and focuses heading into 2026. Ellie McCann form Machinery Magazine reports reports

Based at the company's European HQ, Lawrence McCann, European Group Engineering Director at Mazak, says it has been a prosperous year for this side of the business, despite many industry-wide
challenges.

“The European market has been challenging this year, there’s no doubt about that. Despite this, we’ve taken the time to enhance our range of technology and further improve our positioning in the market,” he told Machinery.

“We’re spread across a vast array of industries, so while some specific areas like the automotive sector have been tough, we’ve had areas like aerospace be really positive for us this year. Being a problem solver and a solution provider gives us strength across so many industries. Added to that, our leading service offering – from project management, application engineering and customer field service - has enabled us to be a differentiator in those markets.

“When you look at manufacturing firms that are owned by shareholders, they come under immense pressure during these types economic cycles – whereas, because we’re family owned, we are able to keep investing, meaning we are fully prepared when the market does take off.”

NEW MACHINES AT THE FOREFRONT
This continued investment meant that Mazak launched seven world and six European debut machines at the EMO trade show in September 2025, signifying a strong end to the year.

Amongst these debuts were Mazak’s latest additions to its standout flagship INTEGREX range: the INTEGREX j-200 NEO multi-tasking machine and its second spindle counterpart, the j-200S NEO.

Building on the ethos of the original j-Series models first launched in 2010, these latest iterations aim to meet the growing industry demand for high-mix, low volume manufacturing, while also offering a significant increase in productivity, machining accuracy and environmental performance compared to previous models.
