About us

Turning ideas into reality through expert prototyping, modelmaking and low-volume manufacturing

Ogle Models & Prototypes is one of the UK's leading providers of industrial modelmaking, prototyping and low-volume manufacturing services. Established in 1954, the company has built a reputation for helping organisations transform ideas into physical reality through a combination of traditional craftsmanship, advanced manufacturing technologies and engineering expertise.

Working with customers across a wide range of industries, Ogle supports the development, validation, communication and manufacture of products, technologies and systems. From early-stage concepts and appearance models through to functional prototypes, exhibition models and production parts, Ogle provides a complete range of services under one roof, enabling customers to move efficiently from concept to completion.

Through large format industrial 3D printing/additive manufacturing, vacuum casting, CNC machining, industrial modelmaking and Paint/finishing, Ogle delivers projects that combine technical accuracy, visual quality and functionality. Our consultative approach allows customers to access the most appropriate processes, materials and manufacturing methods for their specific requirements, helping to reduce development risk, improve communication and accelerate project timelines.

Our Services:

Paint & Finishing

Industrial 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing:
Ogle provides industrial 3D printing and additive manufacturing services that help organisations accelerate product development, reduce risk and bring products to market faster. With large build envelopes (up to 800x800x600mm) we produce everything from concept models and visual prototypes to functional engineering components and into cost effective low-volume production runs.

Our human approach ensures customers benefit from the most appropriate technology, material and manufacturing strategy for their application. Whether the requirement is for high-detail appearance models, durable functional prototypes, complex geometries, lightweight components or short-run manufacturing, our team can recommend and deliver the optimum solution.

By combining additive manufacturing expertise with in-house CNC machining, modelmaking, finishing and assembly capabilities, Ogle provides a complete service that takes projects from initial concept through validation, testing and production-ready parts, all from a single trusted partner.

Additive manufacturing is used for concept models, functional prototypes, low-volume production components, jigs and fixtures, assembly aids and end-use parts. The technology enables fast turnaround times while reducing the cost and lead time associated with traditional tooling.

Industrial Modelmaking:
Ogle has a long heritage in industrial modelmaking and continues to provide high-quality physical models and mock ups for a wide range of applications. These include engineering display models, UX models, engineering mock ups, exhibition models, architectural models, scale models, master patterns, investor presentation models and marketing models.

Physical models remain an effective way to communicate complex products, technologies and systems. They help stakeholders understand scale, functionality and design intent more effectively than drawings, renderings or digital visualisations alone. Ogle creates models that support product launches, exhibitions, customer engagement, public consultations, training programmes and internal decision-making processes.

CNC Machining:
With 3, 4 and 5 axis capability, we produce high-accuracy components and assemblies from a broad range of engineering materials including plastics, composites and metals.

CNC machining is often combined with additive manufacturing and modelmaking processes to create hybrid solutions that balance performance, cost and lead time.

Vacuum Casting:
For customers requiring multiple prototype parts or low-volume production runs, Ogle offers vacuum casting services that replicate production-quality components without the cost of hard tooling. With a wide range of materials available, including elastomers, UV Stable, fire retardant and clear parts.

Vacuum casting is particularly suited to:

Functional testing programmes
Pilot production runs
Market trials
Pre-production validation
Short-run manufacturing

The process provides excellent surface quality, material options and repeatability, making it an ideal bridge between prototyping and full-scale production, or where low production volumes do not justify costly tooling.

Finishing and Assembly:
High-quality finishing is essential to producing prototypes and models that accurately represent the final product. Ogle provides an extensive range of finishing services including:

Specialist paint finishing
Colour matching
Texture replication
Surface preparation
Graphic application
Model assembly
Mechanical assembly
Electrical integration

These services allow customers to evaluate products under realistic conditions and create presentation-ready models for exhibitions, demonstrations and stakeholder engagement.

Architecture:
Creating architectural, context and site models that communicate design intent, planning proposals and development concepts to investors, stakeholders and the public.

Energy and Industrial Equipment:
Producing engineering models, prototypes and manufacturing solutions that support the development of industrial machinery, renewable energy systems, infrastructure technologies and process equipment.

Our Approach:

Ogle's approach combines technical expertise, practical manufacturing knowledge and collaborative project management.

Every project begins with an understanding of the customer's objectives. Rather than simply selecting a manufacturing process, Ogle evaluates the required functionality, accuracy, appearance, quantity, timescale and budget before recommending the most appropriate solution.

This human approach enables customers to benefit from the best combination of technologies and materials for their project rather than being restricted to a single manufacturing method.

The team works closely with customers throughout development, providing guidance on manufacturability, material selection, finishing options and production strategies. This collaborative approach helps identify opportunities to improve outcomes while reducing cost and risk.

Quality and Reliability:
Ogle's reputation has been built upon delivering high-quality work consistently and reliably.

Customers rely on Ogle for projects that require:

Complex geometry
Large format and complex builds
High dimensional accuracy
Exceptional quality
Functional performance
Confidentiality
Fast turnaround
Reliable delivery

By combining multiple manufacturing processes under one roof, Ogle is able to maintain greater control over quality, schedules and project outcomes.

As product development cycles continue to shorten and expectations around speed, quality and innovation increase, physical models and prototypes remain essential tools for reducing risk and improving decision-making. Ogle continues to invest in people, technology and manufacturing capabilities to help customers bring products and technologies to life more effectively.

Whether supporting the development of a new product, communicating a complex technology, validating a design or producing low-volume manufactured components, Ogle provides the expertise, facilities and collaborative approach needed to turn ideas into tangible results.
