Reducing Downtime in Pouch Filling Machines

Discover how a compact electric actuator can streamline your system, reduce downtime, and enhance dispensing precision.

When working with a pouch filling machine designed for dispensing viscous fluids, a more effective and reliable motion control solution was essential.

The existing system, which employed an open ball screw and inline motor arrangement, faced significant challenges due to contamination and space constraints. Dust and debris often accumulated on exposed components, such as the ball screw and grease, while the overhanging motor and gearbox not only occupied additional space but also increased the risk of damage during transit, necessitating larger packaging.

To address these issues, we installed a Rod-Style Electric Actuator with an 80 mm bore and 400 mm stroke. This enclosed design protects all internal components from dust, sunlight, and external contaminants, guaranteeing clean and reliable operation. The actuator’s parallel motor mounting drastically reduced the system’s overall footprint and packaging size, while also eliminating wear and tear caused by exposure.

With its zero-backlash capability, the actuator ensured improved dispensing accuracy and offered a sleek design that blended seamlessly with the machine's aesthetics. Most critically, its sturdy construction and high axial load capacity delivered enhanced reliability and reduced downtime, boosting operational efficiency for the customer.

"This solution proves to be a more intelligent, cleaner way to maintain peak performance in pouch filling machines."
