      Copper Plating (Cu)

Copper is a reddish-orange natural metallic element that is a soft, malleable, and ductile with very high thermal and electrical conductivity. Copper also has good antimicrobial properties and is now being used to reduce the transmission of bacteria in hospitals. The major applications of copper are electrical wire (60%), roofing and plumbing (20%), and industrial machinery (15%). Copper has excellent conductive properties and therefore make it suitable for use with electrical components. When used as a base coat for nickel steel plating, electroplated copper provides superior protection against corrosion in comparison to other materials. Copper is often used as a base coat for other plated layers due to it’s good adhesion properties. TPG have a number of processes available to electroplate copper using jigs, barrel and selective / all over reel to reel plating.

    2. Corrosion protection for a radar system

Corrosion protection for a radar system

Blighter Surveillance Systems designs and makes electronic-scanning (e-scan) ground radar systems for national border security, counter-drone, wide area surveillance and coastline security. These products employ unique award-winning technology and are generally regarded as best-in-class. Cast aluminium housings for the radar systems require meticulous powder coating. Blighter selected Powdertech’s INTRICOAT service to satisfy stringent requirements. Powdertech’s Intricoat team had previously designed a masking scheme on CAD, in conjunction with Blighter Surveillance Systems. Powdertech has a wealth of experience in designing and implementing these schemes and is very aware of what works and what does not. With masking in place, the components were powder coated, all work being carried out in the dedicated Intricoat room within the Powdertech plant. Handling of parts through the powder coating process needed bespoke jigging arrangements by Powdertech to control weight distribution and ensure consistent and even coverage.

    3. Corrugated Packaging

      Corrugated Packaging

We like to think outside the box and provide you with different ways that our corrugated packaging can protect your products. Being recyclable is one of the many examples of how flexible this type of packaging is. Not only does the protection vary, but there is also a choice in the type of cardboard to select; from micro flute to heavy-triple wall, you can choose exactly the level of protection you need. At Design Packaging, we can ship your packaging either flat-packed or already assembled by our team, enabling you to put your product straight in and ship it off.
