Where required we offer a full range of design engineering services, complementing manufacturing with hardware, software, and complete electronic and mechanical drawing packages. Electronic Design Services Hardware design focuses on production engineering for easy manufacture and maintainability. We offer full electronics design services through partners: concept, schematic, BoM, PCB layout (Gerber), prototype assembly, compliance, and DfM. Software Development For embedded systems, web applications, or mobile apps, we work with specialists to deliver tailored solutions that simplify operations and fuel growth.

Design for Manufacture
Design for Manufacture (DFM) realises maximum benefits when both you and the supplier are aware of the requirements from the outset. From a comprehensive design brief and initial discussions prior to layout, material set(s) can be reviewed and agreed, which become the foundation onto which the design is ultimately built. Technology requirements such as HDI and rigid flex can also be reviewed, together with compatibility with other special features e.g. resin filling of vias. Even recommendations on minimum feature sizes such as track/gap, laser drill via sizes and pad diameters can all be defined and agreed in order the transition into prototype and volume manufacture is virtually seamless. On existing designs the same process can be followed, though this is not DFM in its true sense – but more reverse engineering or design optimisation. We can review material requirements and recommend suitable lower cost alternatives, still meeting the same specification requirements. Likewise, we will consider optimisation of feature sizes, with the aim of increasing yields and reducing cost. Panelisation can also be reviewed to give best compromise between PCB and PCBA and even surface finish where, for example, a simple part with no fine pitch components has fabrication notes calling for ENIG, alternative lower cost finishes can be proposed. We always aim to offer options to reduce costs, when we can, to provide you with value engineering.

Design for Manufacture
Our engineering team at Stewart Technology partners with you from the earliest stage of product development to optimise your design for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing. Our detailed DFM analysis includes component selection, PCB layout guidance and assembly optimisation. By incorporating manufacturability into the design process we ensure your product is built right the first time and every time after.

Design for Manufacture (DFM)
If you are in the process of introducing a new product to the market, as well as the product working as expected, it may be important to ensure that it can be manufactured on a larger scale. Here at Fringe we can assist you with suggestions to improve the manufacturability of your products to ensure it can be manufactured in larger volumes at the correct cost. Alongside offering Design for Manufacturing (DFM) support, our R&D Team are constantly working on new products and product improvements. Key areas of design expertise include: LED products – Linear, circular and bespoke light engines for the lighting industry. Analog – Switch mode power supplies, signal conditioning and sensing. Digital – Hardware and software, microprocessors – 8-32 bits. Mechanical design – for extrusions, enclosures, plastics etc.

Design for Manufacture (DFM)
Design for Manufacture is a widely overused and commonly misunderstood activity that time-served manufacturers like Nordell can bring to a product design, resulting in significant time and cost savings. With recent advancements in FEA software and 3D printing, designs can reach a far more mature state prior to placement for tender with the manufacturing sector. Although these advancements have their place, increasingly, when interrogated for manufacture, changes are needed which are both costly in monetary terms, and vitally, can cause project delays. Nordell has a proven track record of speedily understanding your requirements, the performance attributes required from your new products and making time and cost saving suggestions from the first consultation.

Design For Manufacturing & Assembly Process (DFM)
The first step in any product is the "design for manufacturing and assembly process." Sumac supports and engages direct with its customers engineering teams to develop, an optimised component’s design, that will improve the efficiency of the product and streamline the production process, and at the same time reduce manufacturing costs. The benefits to both the customer and supplier are worth the investment in time and effort to support the DFM process. Sumac offer this service free of charge based on successful award of the manufacturing contract.

Design Services
We help turn it into a finished design. Our specialists guide you through the entire product development process. We ensure your visions become reality, from the initial idea to the final product design. With a thorough design brief, innovative development, and iterative prototyping, we ensure your products are visually appealing, functional, and ready for the market. We place great emphasis on production optimisation and design for manufacturing, ensuring efficient and high-quality production.

Diamond Paste
Kemet Diamond Paste and Kemet Diamond Compound are available in a variety of packaging options, ranging from 5g, 10g, 20g, 50g, and 100g tubes, up to larger 1kg containers. The innovative Applikator system ensures precise dispensing of the diamond compound, eliminating waste and preventing any leakage from the syringe. Additionally, diamond paste is offered for specialised applications in Metallography. For ease of use, Diamond Compound Applikator Sticks are also available in both Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline forms, eliminating the need for spatulas or manual application techniques. Each Kemet diamond paste is formulated as a blend of high-quality diamond powder, carefully graded for both size and concentration within a specially designed chemical carrier. These pastes feature mono or polycrystalline diamond particles that are meticulously sorted by a cutting-edge vision system to ensure uniform grain size. The precision sorting guarantees consistent performance, as every diamond grain is exactly the same size. The chemical carriers used in these pastes are tailored to meet the specific demands of various applications, providing a comprehensive range of products suited to different materials and application methods. This ensures optimal results for a wide array of industrial processes.
